Elementary Modern Standard Arabic I
In Elementary Modern Standard Arabic I, students will learn the sounds and structure of Arabic, how to write in Arabic accurately from dictation, and basic vocabulary from Alif Baa: Introduction to Arabic Letters and Sounds. Working through the text, they acquire the ability to create simple sentences, greetings, and are able to talk about themselves and their family. After the completion of Alif Baa, the class will cover the first chapter of al-Kitaab fii Ta'allum al-'Arabiyya and encounter more challenging listening, reading, and writing exercises. Students are also introduced to the Egyptian and Levantine dialects to accelerate speaking proficiency.
