Tuition and Registration Policies
Language classes (meet twice a week) Tuition: $395
Regional Studies classes (meet once a week) Tuition: $245
Special Intensive courses (meet Saturdays and Sundays) Tuition: $960.
Please note that the policies that follow do not apply to Special Intensive Courses.

Registration Fees & MEI Membership
A registration fee of $35 is required for every term in which you register for a class. Effective May 15, 2008, MEI no longer offers registration discounts for MEI members, though we will honor our prior policies for members who remain eligible under them.

Withdrawal and Refund policies
Any student may withdraw from a class at any time but is entitled to a refund only when:

• He/she withdraws no later than the end of the 2nd week of classes (please see academic calendar)
  AND
• He/she submits his/her withdrawal in written form. This can be done by email, fax or in person at the Institute. Verbal requests for withdrawal are accepted if in person. No phone requests please.
  OR
• MEI cancels the class. Should MEI cancel a class, the students in the class are eligible to receive a full refund of the tuition and, if enrolled in only that class, the $35 registration fee paid.

Refunds will be issued according to the following schedule:

• 82% of tuition will be refunded if withdrawal request is received in writing prior to the start of term refund deadline as indicated on the Academic Calendar.
• 72% of the balance will be refunded if withdrawal request is received in writing during the 1st week of classes (Between the prior to start and 1st week refund deadlines)
• 75% of the balance will be refunded if withdrawal request is received in writing during the 2nd week of classes (Between the 1st and 2nd week refund deadlines)

The prorated refund is based on the tuition cost minus the non-refundable fees*.

No refunds will be issued on withdrawals requested after the end of the second week of classes.

Refunds will be made by check if payment was made either by check or cash. Refunds will be made by credit card if payment was made by credit card and only to the card that was used to make the payment. For refunds to be made to another credit card, a signed authorization needs to be received from the cardholder in person or via fax or mail.

Please allow 45 days for refunds to be processed and issued.

Auditing a Course
MEI does not encourage auditing courses as it can have a negative impact on the progression of the class. A student may only audit a course with specific authorization by the Chairman of the Department and this will only be granted under special circumstances.

*Non-refundable fees and costs include:
a) $35/term registration fee
e) Costs of books, tapes, CDs, DVDs and any other supplemental materials

Note: Student will retain all purchased texts and supplemental materials.
