George R. Hoguet is a managing director, senior portfolio manager and global investment strategist specializing in emerging markets at State Street Global Advisors. He has been involved with the firm's active emerging markets strategy over the past 13 years and is a member of the firm's senior management group.

Previously, Mr. Hoguet worked in London and Boston with Baring Asset Management. He also worked at the Frank Russell Company in Tacoma, WA, where he advised large institutional investors on a wide range of investment topics.

Mr. Hoguet spent the first part of his career in emerging market and domestic corporate finance at Bankers Trust Company. From 1981 to 1985 he served at the U.S. Treasury Department, first as alternate executive director to the World Bank and, subsequently, as principal deputy assistant secretary for international affairs.

He is a graduate of Harvard College and Harvard Business School. He earned the chartered financial analyst designation and is a qualified financial risk manager. He served as president of the Boston Economic Club, a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and as a committee or board member of the Boston Committee on Foreign Relations, the Boston Society of Security Analysts, and the Weatherhead Center for International Affairs.
