Dr. Mehrzad Boroujerdi is the founder and director of Middle Eastern Studies program at Syracuse University as well as an associate professor of Political Science at the university. He is the editor of the Modern Intellectual and Political History of the Middle East book series and Book Review editor for the International Journal of Middle East Studies. Boroujerdi served on the executive boards of the Center for Iranian Research and Analysis and the International Society for Iranian Studies. He has held fellowships at the University of Texas at Austin and Harvard University. Boroujerdi is the author of numerous books and articles on Iranian society and politics, including Iranian Intellectuals and the West: The Tormented Triumph of Nativism (1996).
