• Edward R. Murrow Visiting Professor of Public Diplomacy at the Fletcher School of Tufts University
• Former President and CEO of America-Mideast Educational and Training Services, Inc (AMIDEAST) (1995-2003)
• Served as Ambassador to Yemen (1984-1986) and the UAE (1992-1995). Also held posts in Beirut, Cairo, Jeddah, Riyadh, and Damascus
• Received the UAE Medal of Independence, First Class, from President Shaikh Zayed al Nahyan (1995)
