• Charles A. Dana Professor of Government & Law at Lafayette College in Easton, PA, and a Professor of Israel Society at the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College near Philadelphia.
• Editor-in-Chief of Israel Studies Forum: An Interdisciplinary Journal (published by the Association for Israel Studies)
• Past research affiliations include Harvard University, Oxford University (both St. Antony College and the Centre for Hebrew & Jewish Studies), Princeton University, and the University of Pennsylvania.
• Authored numerous books, including a political biography of Prime Minister Menachem Begin, a book on human rights in the West Bank & Gaza (recipient of the Choice Award for Excellent Scholarship, 1996), and most recently Democratizing the Hegemonic State: Political Transformation in the Age of Identity (Cambridge University Press, 2007)
